Just got back from watching Atonement at the flicks and bloody hell if that isn't one of the best films I've watched in ages. It's one of those films you can't say too much about as it would spoil it, but one scene I can write about is the much praised Dunkirk scene. The entire scene is one cut and it is seriously impressive, I've read that it captures the exact spirit of what that day was like (it is the complete opposite of Saving Private Ryan), the tension of the lads waiting to get home but unable to, the grouping together to find strength in one another, some relying on faith, some fighting amongst themselves, others just getting pissed and trying to make the best of the situation. One comment I read is that it is visual poetry, however you describe the scene, it is one that will stay in my memory for a long time to come. As for the rest of the film, yes the story was very strong, the acting was top notch from everyone (even Keira!), this is a film I won't forget in a hurry.

Just finished watching Pans Labyrinth, damn what an AWESOME film. Seriously, that film was brilliant. It's a combination of a war movie & fantasy horror, the main character is a little girl who means a magical fawn who charges her with 3 tasks that she must perform in order to return to her rightful land (I won't say much more...), suffice to say there are some amazing characters and costumes in the film including this dude:
Who is scary enough on his own! If you haven't seen, go, find it, watch it......! Certainly not one for the kids though! |

Just got back from watching the new Bourne movie, Ultimatum. Was kinda hoping it would take my mind off things. The film was good, enjoyable, I suppose it's a good end if there's not another Bourne... apparently there are two more books after this one (and the film doesn't follow the book too closely I've read..) so there is a potential for more films, who knows.... If failed to take my mind of things.
